Your behavior and the behavior of everyone else on Facebook is determined by the algorithm as ranking signals. For instance: How often you like posts of your colleagues? your family? Are people sharing posts with the public? Are they interested in watching live videos? All this helps the Facebook algorithm rank the posts you see in the order you’re likely to enjoy them. The major categories for ranking signals include:

  1. Type of media in the post
  2. Popularity of post
  3. Who the user typically interacts with

With so much confusion, what can you do to make sure your Facebook strategy is following the priorities set by the Facebook algorithm?

Start engaging conversations to get people talking

If a user has previously engaged with your posts then your posts are more likely to reach that user.

Therefore, make your content highly engaging to increase your reach. But it doesn’t mean to post controversial content; you can simply do it by tapping into strong emotion.

  1. Post when users are online

According to research B2B posts get more engagements between 9 am and 2 pm on mid-week days. While B2C posts are likely to reach the audience better at noon. However, you may look at your Facebook page Insights to test the best time for your audience.

  1. Never post content that will get you down-ranked

Avoid posting links to stolen or scraped content. Do not post misleading health information or fake news. Borderline content can also increase your chances of getting down-ranked.

  1. High-quality videos

According to Facebook, original videos that have plenty of added value are likely to engage users. The Facebook algorithm is increasing the influence of videos that are not repurposed and are longer than 3 minutes. Furthermore, if you are a wiz at the video, prefer using live videos that have 6 times greater engagement.

  1. Consisting posting

How often you are posting is another ranking factor for Facebook. Therefore, post often but maintain consistency. A Facebook content calendar can help achieve consistency to keep your audience well engaged and attentive.

Therefore, if you want to improve visibility on the newsfeed, keep your content meaningful by avoiding scarped material and boost the best performing organic content.
